CT colonography (sometimes called virtual colonoscopy) uses low-dose CT imaging to produce detailed three-dimensional views of the colon and rectum. It is a non-invasive alternative for members who are not candidates for standard colonoscopy, or as a structural complement to other colorectal screening approaches. Preparation is similar to colonoscopy (bowel cleanse), but no sedation or scope is required.
Findings are interpreted by a radiologist and reviewed with your longevity physician. Where polyps or other findings of concern are identified, a referral for standard colonoscopy follows. CT colonography is included at higher tiers of the Longevity program where clinically indicated.
